Our Mission

Why would someone leave their job, move far away and give up what you know to help people you don’t? Why go through such a huge inconvenience?  Why do this now?  Those are really tough questions to explain.  For us it all comes down to this powerful but troubling word: faith.

Here’s a biblical perspective: In studying the book of Hebrews, specifically chapter 11, we can learn about the four components of faith: Hope (11:1), Belief (11:6), Perseverance (throughout ch. 11) and Obedience. This is where God has been working on us the most since June 2008. The Holy Spirit gives every Christ-follower unique skills to build up the Church and share the gospel. God’s sovereignty directs us to meet needs that match our spiritual gifts.

The greatest example of obedience was Christ’s death on the cross.  Even here we ask similar “why” questions.  Why punish an innocent man?  Why not give Him more time to do more good?  Why such a cruel and agonizing death?  Those are questions that we can never fully understand. God has asked each of us to obey and follow the example of Jesus who, like us, had to overcome His own desires in order to do God’s will (Matthew 26:39). He even taught us to pray with that same level of obedience “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done…” (Matthew 6:9-10)

We have to have faith that God will supply our needs too. All BFA staff members raise their own financial support. Your tax-deductible donation is a gift to us,  to BFA students and to missionaries on the field around the globe. You can give here on our website or request that a support form be sent to you. Our most urgent need is for monthly sponsors. A one-time financial gift is another option. Your encouragement and prayers strengthen us and remind us that we are not alone! You are standing beside us in our work on the mission field.
